PVTA Student Scholarships

PVTA Education Scholarship

The Prairie Valley Teachers’ Association shall annually award $500 scholarships to PVSD graduates enrolled in their first year of study in the Faculty of Education or a pre-education university program in Saskatchewan.

Interested students are to submit the required documentation and include response to the Application Questionnaire.

Please submit this to your school career counselor by May 1st.

Required Documentation:

  • Resume (including school and community involvement, awards & interests)
  • Copy of letter of conditional acceptance from the university
  • Application Questionnaire response
  • Copy of January transcript and most recent report card:
  • - 5 Level 30 credits: 2 English, 1 Canadian Studies + 2 highest level 30
    - 3 Highest level 20/30 credits.

Application Questionnaire:

  • Why are you choosing education as a career?
  • Discuss 3 personal strengths which will enable you to become an effective teacher.
  • Based on your investigation of education as a career, what might be your greatest challenge?

Application submission procedure:

Electronic version of your application (including all required documentation: resume, most recent report card and January transcript, a letter of conditional acceptance, and response to Application Questionnaire) must be submitted to the school career guidance counselor by May 1st.

School based counselors will forward all applications to the PVTA secretary by May 3rd.

Selection of recipients will be made by a selection committee comprised of school counselors and members of the PVTA executive. The selection committee will submit the names of successful applicants to the PVTA secretary prior to May 15th.

When possible, the PVTA President or a designate, will present the scholarships at an appropriate ceremony.
